Arsenal legend Thierry Henry has revealed that he would have loved to have played alongside Liverpool skipper Steven Gerrard.
The Frenchman hung up his boots earlier this season after calling time on a spell with MLS club New York Red Bulls – and in so doing ended any chance of playing with Gerrard.
Henry holds the Liverpool captain, who will himself make his way to the MLS after the end of this season, in the highest regard.
The 37-year-old was quoted as saying by Liverpool's site: "We had so many battles and I always used to say to him: 'It would have been an honour to play with you'."
Henry feels that Gerrard is a striker "dream" and is in no doubt both Fernando Torres and Luis Suarez benefited from playing alongside the Englishman.
"He is the dream for any striker. Ask Fernando Torres. Ask Luis Suarez. Ask any striker who has played with him.
"He still does it. That through-ball along the ground or in the air is a dream for any striker."
